Introduction

Learning materials in Liberal Studies are usually drawn from authentic cases, historical events, critiques and research report. Teachers could select relevant materials and adapt them into useful learning and teaching materials. In making selection, teachers should note the following criteria:

  • materials are able to stimulate the interest and active learning of students;
  • biased or false information can be distinguished, and students are taught to screen, analyze and make judgement on various materials;
  • materials are able to inspire student-centred discussion and acceptance of different opinions; and
  • the content, format and depth of the teaching materials should meet students’ different needs, interest and abilities to cater for individual differences.
